Nancy Westwood, 85, of Wheeling died at home surrounded by her family, friends and beloved dog, Lily, on Sunday, July 29, 2012.
She was born on July 2, 1927, in Wheeling, WV, the daughter of the late Margaret and Edward Westwood.
Nancy was a graduate with honors from Wellesley College. After graduation she was employed as a librarian and a secondary school teacher.
She was the co-founder of the Hills n Dales preschool at Vance Church. She was a member of Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church and had served on the board of the House of Friendship. She was active in volunteer work serving as a member of the Oglebay Institute Mansion Museum Committee, the Junior League of Wheeling, the King's Daughters, the Garden Club of Wheeling, and the Ohio Valley Medical Center Auxiliary. She had a lifelong love of sports, gardening, animals and travel.
She established and served as President of the Driehorst Family Foundation through which she supported many charitable organizations to improve the quality of life in the Wheeling area especially in music, the arts and education.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick C. Driehorst II and her former husband, Joseph P. Jefferson.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy Jefferson Vance of San Diego, CA and Joyce Pollack Jefferson of Wheeling, WV.
