Mary Wengryn, 81, passed away on Monday, Aug. 8, 2011. Mary was born in Hillsborough, came from a family of ten, and lived on the farm for most of her life. She was a graduate of Somerville High School. She was a member of the South Branch Reformed Church in Hillsborough. Mary worked for Mack Motors of Bridgewater and Permaceal of Bound Brook. She also worked for and retired from the National 4-H Council - International Division, traveling the world. She was a lifetime member of International 4-H Youth Exchange (IFYE) and was the first representative from New Jersey in the 4-H program to go to Finland. Mary was also a 4-H member and leader. She was a Rutgers University Certified Master Gardener for both Hunterdon and Somerset Counties, with over 3000 hours of volunteer service. In her spare time, she sang in the Raritan Valley Choral Society and worked as a Tour Guide at Doris Duke Farms. She also was a member of the Hillsborough Senior Citizens - Chapter B. Mary enjoyed growing flowers and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Eva Wengryn; and her brothers, Steven, Michael, Myron, Walter, John, and Peter. Surviving are her brothers, Daniel of Hillsborough and George of Ringoes; her sister, Lillian Phillips of Somerset; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
A Prayer Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Interment will be in New Cemetery, Somerville. Viewing hours are Friday, August 12, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's memory to
