Jackson's Mill has two histories... as an early industrial site that helped
settle the area and served as the boyhood home of General Thomas J.
"Stonewall" Jackson, and as the state 4-H camp of West Virginia, touching
the lives of thousands of people from throughout West Virginia, across the
nation, and around the world.

The All Stars came into existence as a result of forces set in motion
during the early years of 4-H club work in West Virginia by the State 4-H
club Leader, William H. Kendrick.

Once an African American Heritage 4-H Camp, in 1980 Camp Washington Carver
was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The occasion was
celebrated with a rededication ceremony by the Department of Culture and
History, with Governor Jay Rockefeller giving the keynote address.
